A study to test a new medication in combination with Empagliflozin (a currently available medication) in people with Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.
- Age > 18 years
- History of heart attack, stroke or vascular disease AND high blood pressure
- One additional risk factor for developing heart failure (assessed at screening)
- Diabetic or non-diabetic
- Oral tablet daily
Outpatient Visit
- Clinic visits every 12 weeks
- Phone visits in between
Payment / Remuneration
- Reimbursed for travel $64 per visit
- Reimbursed for meals (fasting visits) $30 per visit
Information for Practitioners
- Screening bloods
- Established ASCVD, diabetes and hypertension
- Elevated NT-proBNP (assessed at screening)
- Requires one additonal risk factor for developing heart failure (assessed at screening)
- Exclusion - history of heart failure treatment or hospitalisation prior to screening
- Exclusion - history of cancers wtihin 5 years of screening (exceptions apply)
